TVB Staff Gather To Remember The Dead

Following the earthquake that struck Sichuan a week ago, the Chinese government announced three days of mourning for the victims of the disaster. To mark the start of this period, three minutes silence was observed at 2:28 pm Beijing time today.

People across Hong Kong also took this time to pay their respects and over 500 TVB staff members gathered in the main studio car park, led by General Manager Stephen Chan (陳志雲) to share in the silent remembrance of those who lost their lives. HKPAG Honorary President Eric Tsang (曾志偉) also played his part, helping to hand out black armbands to his colleagues.

A light drizzle fell during the ceremony and the sadness of the moment left many of the female artistes, including Susannah Kwan (關菊英) and Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧) unable to hold back their tears and even Adam Cheng (鄭少秋) removed his trademark cap as a sign of respect.

Afterwards, Yoyo was still extremely upset as she left and she explained that she had been crying every time she watched the reports of the suffering on the television. She said that she can do nothing other than donate money, but she understands that the greatest pain is that of the survivors who have lost their loved ones.

Susannah recalled seeing a scene where a man was carrying the body of his wife away from the ruins and said that anyone would be sad to see these things. She added that situations like this are unpredictable, but does prove that there is a lot of love in the world.

Adam spoke of how he had rushed over as soon as he had heard about the ceremony, because he knows that everyone has been touched by the event and he expressed his admiration to the rescue teams who are working day and night to search for survivors and provide aid. He hoped that people will continue to give generously because the recovery period will take many years.

I just love HK celebs when they come to charity stuffs. They are so empathic and compassionate.

Btw Alan Tam, Andy Lau & few other big names will go Sichuan as well on 26th May for helping the victims.

I just heard the news about the donations in Hong Kong...and its so funny...ESPECIALLY this donation.

Movie theaters will donate $1 for every ticket they sell......umm...can I tell you how much $1HKD is actually worth...it's only 12 cents in Canadian dollars..........or 11 cents in US dollars...point of donating 12 cents per ticket?...umm lets see...China is demanding about a couple hundred million or billion dollars to build about a million something metal shelters that are able to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8........your 12 cents per ticket is REALLY gonna help them...

Rice when you factor in that they sell millions of movie tickets per day 12c becomes tens of millions over a course of a month.

Also if you've ever seen movie theatres in HK you'll know why they're donating $1HK per ticket since it takes a shit load of money just to run the place each day.

HK only has like $7 million people with a majority of them being old men and women who never goes to the cinemas. How many tickets do you think they sell per day? =.="

They sell millions of tickets a day. How else would there be box office records grossing $100million + over weekends. Also if you check out online bookings, all the peak hour shows are fully booked out.
