Korea: Jobless Guy Murders Woman for $129...to Play PC Games!

    one word wow!
cant believe these things actally exist

Murder in the basement of a shopping mall in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, topped the nation's No.1
search engine Naver's most searched keyword list, as the suspect confessed he committed it for a mere 120,000 won ($129).

The 26-year-old Kim was caught by police last Thursday over suspicion of murdering Hyun, 28, a researcher at a large corporation, on June 16.

The police first assumed that the criminal would be an acquaintance or sex offender, but the suspect was a jobless man who needed money to play an online computer game.

Kim said Hyun resisted his taking her cash and that he strangled her and put the body in her car's trunk.

``War of Money," one of the most watched TV dramas, ranked second as it's writers were accused of plagiarizing another novel. Hur Yoon-ho filed a provisional disposition against the TV drama based on Park In-kwon's cartoon for plagiarizing the title and the main plot of his novel ``The Money War.''

However, cartoonist Park rebutted the allegation saying that his work commenced three months prior to the novel's publication. The plagiarism issue raised attention to the drama and it stood at 35.3 percent in viewer rating, last Thursday.

A celebrity romance also caught the eyes of netizens. Singer BoA, who was rumored to be dating former G.O.D. member Danny Ahn, placed third as she was revealed to have been threatened by a netizen who hacked her homepage and demanded money in return for not spilling the beans about her and Ahn.

Chang Jin-young, a singer, was also said to be romancing actress Ku Hye-sun, placed fifth. Yoon Song-yee, an acclaimed prodigy and executive of SK telecom, ranked sixth as she was rumored to marry Kim Taek-jin, founder and chief executive of top game developer NCsoft. The pair quickly denied the report.

Ulsan Hyundai kicker Lee Chun-soo ranked fourth as British newspaper Daily Mail reported that Chelsea, one of the top premium leaguers, is interested in bringing Lee to the team.

Financial Supervisory Commission Chairman Yoon Jeung-hyun said a ``big bang'' is necessary for Korea's financial industry to make a leap forward and become a ``great market'' in the region, Wednesday. Yoon's word put the term seventh.

``Milyang Incidence,'' where a gang of high school students raped a middle school girl for over a year, placed eighth. The case that first shocked the nation in 2004 resurfaced as the victim was revealed to have quit school and is unable to adapt to society, while the offenders received warnings and are leading normal lives.

The angry netizens blamed the police and judicial organizations for a light punishment on the wrongdoers while expressing sympathy toward the victim.

Hyundai Motor, whose labor union announced a strike against a free trade agreement between South Korea and the United States, placed ninth.

Bang Shil-yee, one of the most popular adult contemporary singers, ranked tenth, as she continues to struggle from the after effects of a stroke she had on June 7. She recently underwent a tracheotomy.

not surprising when such events happend. a lot of mentally unstable pple recently, look bck at the virginia campus shootings, and the recent case in japan in which a child beheaded his parent and went to the police station and u'd get wat i mean.

such problems seems to be on the rise in society and honestly, we cannot do anythng abt it

Of course, the victim's family must feel terrible, no doubt about it, but as being a Korean, and having grown up in a Korean family, the murderer's father and/or brothers have already beat the shit out of him. His family will no longer want to see his face, nor would they allow him to say that he belongs to their family. His family, although probably not as distraught as the victim's family, they are probably enormously distraught as well.

    >.> most of you are unaware that Video games such as Starcraft, Warcraft ect... are considered as a sport like FOW said.

I saw it on a T.V documentary where kids at the ages of 5 - 7 are trained to play these games. All cramped up in a tiny room with 20 other people clicking on their mouses to control the units.... In the end if they make it big, the players themselves are treated like gods since these games are Broad casted live throughout Korea.

....its a sad world we live in =o=
Divide 30 by 1/2 then add 10. The answer is >.> u'd be surprised most people get it wrong.

Goes to show that any addiction, no matter how small at first, can quickly expand to dangerous proportions.

what a bad day for the victim....

weird villain in normal humans eyes, but i doubt that it look anywhere near Bizzare to the villain
When we are in the urge of something we consider lovely, or stimulating, or essential to us, doing anything that we consider as less essential would probably seems normal

This guy definitely need a mental-checkup, put his priority right, and sent him to Jail >_>
