The divorce between Samsung Group heir Lee Jae-yong and his estranged wife Lim Se-ryeong, was made final Wednesday, a week after Lim filed a suit against her husband of 11 years.

Their legal representatives finalized the divorce through a session arranged by a judge at the Seoul Family Court, Wednesday.

``All contentious points have been settled,'' Hwang Sang-hyon, Lee's lawyer, said. He said that they included division of the two's wealth and custody of their two children, without elaborating.

Lim's lawyer said, ``Both parties are satisfied with the terms,'' but didn't reveal them. However, they said that Lee will retain custody of the children.

According to Samsung officials and court sources, the two reached an agreement to terminate their marriage through a court-arranged settlement.

Lodging a divorce suit against Lee, the only son of former Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee, last week, Lim asked for the division of wealth reaching up to 500 billion won or about $345 million as well as custody of their children. At that time, it was widely speculated that their court battle could drag on due to what was at stake.

Legal experts say the two opted for a legal procedure that doesn't always require the presence of the parties involved before a judge, an attempt to save the two and their families from the embarrassment of standing up to public scrutiny. They also point out that it was different from an out-of-the-court settlement that, at least once, forces the parties involved to appear before a judge.

Sources said Lim agreed to drop the custody of the two children in return for a multi-million-dollar compensation package.

Lim is the daughter of the honorary chairman of Daesang Group ― one of the nation's largest food conglomerates.

Their June 1998 marriage was depicted as one between two corporate royal families.

In a separate issue, the former Samsung Chairman Lee will leave the Samsung Medical Center today after in-depth check-up on his lungs.

A week ago, Lee was hospitalized suddenly after suffering from a severe headache.
