Live in Japan? Wanna get away from the city? You rich? Here's a beach hotel for 18000 yen (~$180 US) for stay and breakfast!
What with the recession and all, it’s getting harder to justify — let alone pay for — that luxury overseas beach holiday. But who’d have thought that there’d be a viable alternative just a 90-minute train ride from downtown Tokyo?
Sayan Terrace is a seaside hotel that draws inspiration from the world’s best beach resorts, then bundles them all into a package that you might actually be able to afford. The hotel’s 33 rooms come decorated in Pacific, Atlantic and Japanese styles, many complete with gorgeous sea views. Take a dip in the ocean then unwind on a lounger at the hotel’s terrace cafe, before enjoying a slap-up French dinner and a good bottle of plonk in the evening.
Rates start at 18,000 yen for two people including breakfast, and 22,000 yen with dinner as well. Lunch, tea and dinner are served in the hotel restaurant, while breakfast comes in a basket that you’re free to wander around with while you look for the ideal spot in the sun — a nice touch, that.
While you’re in the area, you might also want to pay a visit to the nearby Thermes Marins du Pacifique, a top-class spa that boasts Aquatonic baths and a vast menu of treatments, including massages, algae packs, marine facials and pre- and post-natal plans.
