    Robots teaching classes??

A humanoid robot named “Saya” speaks to school pupils as she takes on the role of teacher, during a demonstration at an elementary school in Tokyo on Thursday. The robot, developed by Tokyo University of Science Professor Hiroshi Kobayashi, can speak different languages, make facial expressions like happiness, surprise, sadness, fear, anger or disgust with motors inside her face.

That's pretty weird. How would it know if kids are misbehaving though?

Hey! Teachers are underpaid as it is. We don't need robots taking out jobs.

I agree with the above comments. The first think I think of when I hear "Robot Teacher" is the fact that it replaces real humans, and then how can it properly interact with real people-- children none the less, how will it know what is going on and if little Yuki is drawing pictures instead of practicing her Kanjii? Not a practical use of robots. Plus at that age, kids need to have adult interaction in school for socal and diciplinary growth.

well its a start. I hope that many years later this will be laughed at, like we laugh at those massive protoype cellphones compared to what are cellphones today can do.

It is definitely not practical as said by above comments but I think it will happened in the future. I hope that we won't have children robots learning from teacher robots instead :P

somehow I doubt kids can learn effectively from robot teachers :/
although it would make learning more standardized and that could lead to getting rid of standardized testing (which sucks anyway)

Hm…looks like the robot need more Architecture Intelligent and programming for each of its new movement and action, so that it can behave like human.

Human being is the greatest creature in this world.

It's one more step closer of Cylons.

Using robots for dentist testing subject , okay, but for teaching ? It's totally unsane.

I do hope one day robots don't take over out lives.

I mean, it's a good thing we have technology to help us nowadays, but it isn't very pleasant to have robots take over our lives...
