Shanghai Oriental TV draws our attention to a new floral-themed restaurant in Nanjing by the name of Lanfugong (兰芙宫) where body-painted female models dressed in nothing but a pair of underwear appear for a show while you're having your meal. And for RMB 1,000 (USD132) a pop, you too can get up on stage and create your own masterpiece on a model's body! Apparently the restaurant has some checks on the "quality of the character" of the budding body-painters before they lay their hands on the models paintbrushes, but no details were given on what the "checks" consist of.
In response to doubts raised by the public with regards to the alternative marketing gimmick by the restaurant, the manager says:
In the cultural environment of Lanfugong, such art shows are completely legitimate and appropriate. I'd agree that it would be completely inappropriate and wrong to bring such shows out on the streets but here at our restaurant, it should be completely okay.
You'd think the ladies would be put off by the idea of such a show, but a female guest says:
I think this is pretty good. I think the Chinese people are developing, and our minds are opening up, right? Art has no gender distinctions.
