South Korean police said today they have cracked down on a website which arranged sex parties for professors, doctors and other senior figures in society.
Seoul police said civil servants and business executives had also used the site called "SEX party" which threw parties in city hotels.
They arrested the website's 42-year-old operator for arranging the group sex parties for commercial gain, and also booked 53 men and 11 women for possible prosecution.
Prostitution is illegal in South Korea.
"Most of the suspects were identified as high-class figures — including professors and doctors — some of whom were couples and lovers seeking to change partners," police office Jang Cheol-Hui told AFP.
Since opening the website in November, Kim had allegedly attracted 4,000 members as of May and arranged 20 group sex parties at Seoul hotels.
Men paid a minimum $130 and a maximum $1.8 million for taking part.
The women involved — including housewives, models, students and professional prostitutes — were usually paid one million won each for joining in the parties.
