i love lee jun ki and i was really happy when he came out with this drama. he played such a great character, who is kicks but and has a really good hear, and the story was good too, better than time between dog and wolf.

WARNING ESSAY AHEAD: I deeply apologize for the length of this post.

i think this show's seriously awesome.. you get to see Lee Jun Ki's flexibility in acting, and i love good actors & actresses(who doesn't?). Somehow i especially like the parts when he had to act in front of the villagers in his hometown, whenever he's done with his "job" the night before, so that they wouldn't know that he is Iljimae... i think that's where his genuine acting talent really shines. Him faking himself is awesome... LOLS. Hope you get what i mean, heh.

but yeahs, the ending was disappointing. and i can just imagine the person in charge of post-production heaving a huge sigh of relief after everything's done & dusted, because somehow the last 10 mins of the last episode give off this 'out-of-steam' feeling. geh. other than that, the only scenes that i don't really like in the show is when Eun Chae comes on screen. it's like, everytime she's around, everything goes so s l o w. and in episode 11, i was a little pissed off that Iljimae decides to go on a 'date' with her. i mean, fer goodness' sake Iljimae move on and save yourself first before going lovey-dovey!!

I loved the SBS version but the ending was confusing and i didn't get it for a while
The MBC version is good too but the beginning confused me cuz it started off in modern times but overall it was pretty good.

I loved this drama but I felt there wasn't enough focus on Jun-Ki's relationship with the girl (can't remember her name). It was still good nonetheless but it would've been nice seeing the relationship develop...

The end was pretty open and left me kinda confused too...

To be serious The Return of Iljimae was not that good.
I am sorry fans, I like Jung Ji Woo but comparing to Lee Jun Ki's performance his acting was not that brilliant. The Return of Iljimae was a nice drama, I still can't finish it though, probably because the first movie was too good. But I must say that in second movie Iljimae is much cooler, he uses different fighting styles but his costume sucks epically so far. I mean, what the hell - a black funeral robe? Not cool. Maybe he will also make himself an iron mask or something later on. I hope he will, because that hood (or whatever it is that covers his face) looks dull lol

But Lee Jun Ki just left me speechless, honestly. I don't have enough words to describe how talented this young man is. He is so good at expressing his character's feelings, that is why I loved the emotional bits of drama so much. I had goosebumps every time they showed those moments. I think he was able to capture Yong's personality perfectly. Iljimae is a very complicated character and I bet it wasn't easy to create him but in my opinion Jun Ki did a good job, a fantastic job, he was absolutely charming and really showed what he got, this guy is very talented. Nothing but respect.
No wonder he and this drama received a lot of awards, so it is not only me who thinks that way.
My vote goes for Iljimae and Lee Jun Ki. Great storyline, poor Yoong, I can not imagine things he had been through.

My favorite moment - SPOILER AHEAD!!
when his sister was hanged and he just stood there and watched calmly because he knew that if he will reveal his true emotions he would instantly got caught.
    END OF SPOILER
I cried buckets while watching that moment.

Oh, and the ending...Iljimae didn't die that is the only thing that matters.
Heechul: Hankyung is very popular in China. Hankyung's popularity in China...about Kim Heechul's level in Korea.
Hankyung is at Kim Heechul's level...it is very high!

I finally finished watching this drama. It was really interesting...so interesting that I put off studying for a test. Lee Jun Ki has amazing acting skills. I thought it was sort of funny/amazing that he had to act acting in the drama (scenes where he had to pretend he was happy and didn't know what was going on even though he did, etc.). He was able to be funny yet serious at the same time, and his ability to change from one to the other in a split second was great.
This drama made me cry a lot of times. so I thought it was very well made. The ending did sort of disappoint me at first, but I liked how they connected the beginning with the end (The beginning was pretty much what the ending was), and the main characters were able to find peace. Though it was sad that Geom and his mother were never reunited. They only were able to see each other for a short while.

    SPOILER:
    @vanityfull
actually I thought he didn't show his emotions at first because he thought his plan would work. He made sure that the rope would break when they tried to hang her and then he would be able to rush out and save her, but they replaced the rope and when the rope didn't break, he realized his plan failed, and he started to cry.
