Beethoven Virus Anyone?

Beethoven Virus (베토벤 바이러스). 18 Episodes + 1 special...
It aired and just ended recently... anyone else here watch it?

IMO it was such a great drama I came upon once in a while... but the ending was pretty disappointing-_-;;

EDIT: oops, I posted on the wrong forum. ~_~ mods please move this...

Beethoven Virus is a powerful drama with realistic characters. And I find it interesting that the writers of the drama didn't go for the grandioso kind of approach, i.e. having the orchestra compete in world-wide competitions then having them being recognized throughout the world. I don't think this is what Beethoven Virus is about. It's not so much about the end result, but rather, it's a simple tale about ordinary people struggling and striving to do what they love most no matter how many obstacles they must face.

I think it was a Korean rip off of Nodame Cantabile..no offensex_x... but I can't criticize.. as these days everything is being made "Korean" or "Taiwanese" etc. Maybe it's a fad?

Hi Belladonna - i totally agree with you. The characters are more realistic & the drama does concentrate more on their passion for music rather than recognition.
I love how the show projects the struggles ordinary people goes through - being poor, having to the bread winner in the family, having health problems & etc. The problems faced here are more believable. Basically it answer the question of "Can you invest in music when you are struggling to survive?". Love the part where the refugees were taking shelter in the hall.

With so much going for it, i was disappointed with the ending. But i guess, the director decides to have an open ending - maybe for a sequel...

The difference between BV & NC is that in NC provides more clarification on the instruments used, the player's position in the orchestra, the pieces played & so forth. While BV goes straight to character's, it is pretty much assumed that viewers already have the necessary knowledge.
Eg. NC explained quiet clearly about Oboe & First Violin. But in BV, no explanation was given.

I'm not musically incline; so for those who are not familiar with classical music and musical instruments, please watch Nodama Cantibile before watching this LOL!

Yea I was too very disappointed with the ending, It was kind of confusing and left too many plotlines open.

And about BV being a rip-off of Nodame.. Well I haven't watched Nodame Cantabile, but I can surely say it isn't a ripoff. As anime76 said above, BV is more of a 'human drama' rather than a professional music drama like NC is. :P

Beethoven Virus and Nodame both deal with classical music, and a genius wanting to conduct, but I think that's where the similarities end?

And yea, the ending was quite disappointing, was sorta expecting something more or conclusive when I heard that it was extended by a couple of episodes.
