Separate Japanese live-action version finishes on-location shoot at Las Vegas



CRIEnglish.com reports that a South Korean live-action television series will be the latest adaptation of Hana Yori Dango, the 36-volume manga by Yoko Kamio. The manga recounts a middle-class girl's life, surrounded by the rich students of an exclusive high school. 24 70-minute episodes of the drama will begin airing in the fall. The manga ran in Shueisha's Margaret shōjo magazine, and was published in individual volumes between 1992 and 2004 in Japan. 58 million copies of those Japanese volumes have been sold.

Hana Yori Dango has also been adapted into an anime series and movie, as well as two live-action series that aired on Japanese television in 2005 and last year. It also served as the basis for Meteor Garden, a Taiwanese drama that transferred the setting from a high school to a university. Meteor Garden began airing in 2001, and itself was followed by two sequels. Viz Media released the manga and anime versions in North America.

In separate news, Hana Yori Dango Final, the theatrical film finale to the Japanese live-action drama version, finished its overseas shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday. Actress Mao Inoue (Tsukushi) and actor Jun Matsumoto (Tsukasa) had travelled to Hong Kong during February 11-16 for an earlier film shoot, and then arrived at Las Vegas on February 19. Between the two location shoots, the cast travelled 25,000 kilometers (16,000 miles). The second Japanese television series scored a record 27.6% average rating and an instantaneous high rating of 32.3%. The film will open in Japan on June 28.

I'm curiouse to see who willl be choosen to play the korean actors to this drama version. I belive the japanese version was the best by far. The taiwnese was alright but not something I could ever watch again. I am having a hard time figuring out who could play tusukushi or Tsukasa. Anyone have any possible idea? A pic would be nice of the actor. I like the actor from Goong but his a bit older now and so is the acrtress who played oppiset of him.

Also, the HYD Movie will be soon on theater I am really exciting.

I can't wait to watch this remake. HYD is one of my favorite shoujo manga. I hope they do a good job on it and make it similar to the books like the Japanese version. I didn't like the mandarin version very much.
