    Angry Super Junior's Song Plagiarized!

Questions have been raised about Super Junior’s song “U” being plagiarized by a Spanish music group. Super Junior fans posted an accusation of plagiarism against Adriel’s “Solo un Segundo,” claiming that the Spanish song is an exact copy of “U.”

However, Super Junior’s representative SM Entertainment refuted the claim by saying that although Super Junior has the right to use the music in Asia, Adriel is the one with the European right to the music. “U” was composed jointly by Swedish composer Ken Ingwersen and British musician Kevin Simm.

Similar accusations flared up with TVXQ’s “Mirotic” last year. The song composed by two American composers was given to both TVXQ and German singer Sarah Connor, causing misunderstanding among TVXQ fans. Music industry insiders explained that it’s become commonplace for foreign composers to license the same song for different musicians in different regions. They also advised Korean fans to keep pace with the changes in the music licensing and publishing field.

    Cred: KBS WORLD.

Commentary: Eh old news. At least fans were alert enough that he got caught. *sighs* I don't know why people think they can cheat their way into success. Whatever.

i've heard the spanish version, and honestly...the original version from SuJu is 1000 times better.
what was that spanish group thinking?...that nobody listens to SuJu or what?
geez....thank God that the fans posted an accusation of plagiarism against the group.

and about the mirotic song, i heard Sarah Connor's version, but DBSK's version is a 10.000 times cooler

    Agree with ^.
I still feel all the Korean versions sound better, though the other ones have their own little charms etc.
But admittedly, it's a bit pathetic how some people think they can do something like this and not expect to get caught.

uum did you folks not read the whole blurb? its not plagiarized because its been licensed to different groups.
this will continue to happen while pop groups are incapable of writing their own material.

not writing your own songs = no respect from anyone who writes

I didn't read the entire thing written above, but didn't you know that record companies sell song[bgm] rights to other artists in different regions?
Considering that a majority of people don't listen to Korean and Spanish music. So the majority of people would never know the song[bgm] is from another region.
    I don't think it's really all that weird. -_-

Yes, technically it isn't plagiarism but for die hard fans it's kinda atrocious. =[

to me its worse that they don't write their own songs lol.

to get mad because someone else did the exact same thing as your favorite band is kind of silly to me *shrugs*

*edit* to clarify my point, making noise about plagiarism is not a bad thing, but to keep making noise once it becomes apparent that it ISN'T, is what I find to be very silly

It took awhile for SM Entertainment to clear it up so by the time everyone knew it wasn't actually plagiarized, the whole issue was just on a whole different level than where it should be.

Furthermore, online Kpop sites NEVER really clarified anything. When they first reported it, it was just that Suju was plagiarized.

Besides, the way Adriel handled the whole issue was kind of suspicious in the first place. He said that he didn't have the time to compose the music so he just used the music to "U", intending to CHANGE it later. If he had explained it clearly in the first place saying that he had the right to use it etc. etc. Then the whole mess could have been subdued easily.

The way I see it, though I may be wrong, even though the whole having rights to the same music in different countries is true, it's really just damage control.

For all we know, Adriel might have just thought he wouldn't get caught and really did intend to plagiarize (without knowing the whole rights thing.)

In any case, this is old news and the issue is done and over with (I don't know why people are responding now when it's all over. :P). So if the mods can lock it, that would be nice. Thanks.

And thanks for your opinion, guys!

=/ I don't really think this is called plagiarism since they both bought the license to the song. I'm a Suju fan too, cept I don't think overreacting is going to help anyone.

This sort of thing is so strange. I don't understand why people can't just use original songs. I know that a lot of pop stars don't write their own music, but the writers should only give the rights to ONE group. It avoids confusion and comparisons. I guess it's more money for the writer(s) though.
