I could understand if the record company doesn't want to make any more CDs, but stopping the sales of the old CDs is a bit much. I don't think the music should be affected like that.
But wait, he was arrested for possession? Maybe if he murdered someone I could see the sense in this, but marijuana? Are people's image of him going to be so bad after this? I mean, I still listen to Michael Jackson after all the trouble he's been in.
The only thing I can see a record label doing after one of their artists commits a crime is dropping them and that would be purely from a PR standpoint, because I highly doubt they care at all unless it effects their bottom line.
No it shouldn't be stop, as its not relevant to whatever the artist do outside of the career.

that's going a bit extreme in my opinion. the record companies should instead stop promotion of any kind relating to the artist or something if they want to save their image. some music is so engraved into the musical history of a country that stopping the sales altogether would be too much.

I don`t think they should stop selling albums for something that small of charge. The artist could sue the label and they have an contract. The major Record label I work for don`t stop selling because the artist get busted for drugs or We have a label in Japan Only way a label would drop them is if they do something that would embarrass the label or cause it a lawsuit for the label
A woman heart is filled with many things! But the people she lovesis always on top of everything else

Hmm, probably the company didn't want to take a risk. There is possibility that the CD won't get sales. People or the fans will probably positively say that they will for sure buy it, but it didn't means or reflects that other people will have the same positive thoughts as they are. Who knows, people or the fans feel disappoint and then decide not to buy it.
After all it's about business!
I’m sure it won’t be an issue if the crime involves by unpopular artist. No one will care whether the CDs will be sales or not.
It's not like people will stop buying just because the artist committed a crime. Well some people may stop buying, but others won't care regardless. Most people just want to hear the music and can care less what the artist has done so the CD sales won't really be affected that much. To stop selling a CD just because an artist commits a crime is way too much and nothing good will come out of it.

music Cds sale should definitely not be banned due to an artiste's public misconduct. but it really depends on the company policies and managing directors; who would most likely act on behalf on the company's financial interests and thus ban the CD sales.
i thus feel sorry for the artistes who are being treated by the record company like cash cows and discarded once they committed unlawful acts. but sadly, the truth hurts as we all live amidst a mercenary society.

Personally, I don't think they should cut the sales of any artist. If said artist commits a crime and is punished by jail time or a fine, shouldn't that be enough? Removing the items for sale is adding insult to injury and I don't think it's right.
As for the reason to keep the company's image clean...well, there's nothing I can really say about that. I know that the concept of honor is a big thing in the Japanese culture, even today. But I believe that the public knowledge of a crime committed is shame enough for the artist in question.
