RythmZone (avex): The Rival

Okay, so RythmZone/avex entertainment started some new project called 'The Rival'.
It's about two brand new singers, Seara Ko-Jo and Shion Miyawaki, who shall kind of...compete against each other. Their debut singles have been released on the same day - and the second single for each of them has already been announced for September 26th (both on the same day again.)

Before they signed under avex both girls have been friends, they graduated together. Well, all this competition and rivalry thing might break their friendship.
The melody of their debut singles' A-side is the same, by the way. 'JOY' by Seara Ko-Jo is kind of a midtempo pop song while 'BOY' by Shion Miyawaki is more slow and a bit R&B-like.



Both of their debut singles will be released on July 25th, 2007.

interseting...but why pit them against each other...I mean they're under the same label...

Checked this out when I was over at controlle. I really like the 'Boy' song by Shion Miyawaki, love the R&B. I played it over and over, it has a nice vibe. The Joy song by Seara Ko-Jo is cool. The chorus in both of the songs sound similar, or at least the Boy/Joy is being harmonized the same.

Well, it's been a while now.

Results of the single sales:
*Seara Ko-jo (JOY): #159 ~ 613 copies sold
*Shion Miyawaki (BOY): #182 ~ 507 copies sold

---> Therefore Seara Ko-jo won this part.

In the 5 votings Seara Ko-jo was voted 3 times and Shion Miyawaki 2 times.

Now comes the fun part of it.
- Both 2nd singles were cancelled because the debut singles already sucked.
- They will release under 'Rhythm Republic' (indie label) instead.
- The coming singles won't be available in shops; they have to sell them on the street for 500 yen (they only have one song on their).
- The whole thing is not under 'The Rival'/avex anymore.
