Music Newbie in need of Suggestions.

Currently, I only listen to tracks when I hear them in anime, so I have the feeling that my music-listening is very narrow-minded.

    Artists I frequently listen to:
    Yuuki Aira
    Ceui
    eufonius
    KOTOKO
    Mami Kawada
    Minori Chihara
Hirano Aya [the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya songs]

    Artists I sometimes listen to:
    T.M.Revolution
    Suneohair
    Ayana
    Chata

Artists I plan on listening to/Artists I should listen to more:
    Sachi Tainaka
Mikuni Shimokawa [I'm addicted to Sore Ga, Ai Deshou right now]
    Yuna Ito
    Hitomi Shimatani
    I'VE Sound Girls

[I'm trying to avoid posting character albums...]
I'm thinking that I generally listen to Pop, but I have no idea really.

Edit: I enjoyed I've GIRL'S COMPILATION Vol. 6 - Collective. I guess that means I enjoy a little bit of techno with pop.

    Edited again.

If you like pop you might want to try listening to Yui. For some light rock, try The Pillows, my fave.

well. since you really like techno/pop, and yes, especially from the production I've Sound, then you must try Lia :] also, MELL who has a more techno side.

sachi tainaka is a VERY good artist. her voice is like *-* and her voice range is 3 octaves~

    erm..miwako okuda - pop/rock.

    YUI ^^

    Chauie's awesome :]

Haha, I used to listen to anime songs only too but ever since I came upon this site, I've been listening to alot more varieties.
I guess i'm a fan of j-pop/j-rock so i like UVERworld and abingdon boys school but Yuna Ito and YUI are just as great.
I also go to this site to listen to songs by other artists.

    I forget to look at this thread, and it jumps 8 posts. ^__^;;

Sachi Tainaka? Didn't she sing the Fate/Stay Night OPs?
    [Checks. Yes she did].

I always thought Lia and MELL were part of the I've Sound group. I'll check them out.

Yuna Ito and Yui have been recommended three times now. I'll put them on a priority.
    Last.fm? I'll check it out.

Thanks for the posts you guys. ^__^

*Is partially posting to have a list on hand.*

    To Stage6!

Try Koda Kumi, melody., m-flo, CHIHIRO if you like R&B
Utada Hikaru, Ayumi Hamasaki, if you like more depressing music.
Nami Tamaki, BoA if you like more upbeat music.
Nightmare, L'Arc~en~Ciel, Dir En Grey, if you're the rocker type.
Delaction, Tsubasa if youre the trance/raver.

So you you like fast-beat happy pop and don't mind nasally or too cute...

Mainstream: Ayumi Hamasaki, Nami Tamaki, Koda Kumi, Kuraki Mai, SPEED, move, m-flo, Every Little Thing

Must haves: Yuna Ito (all around solid), Hitomi Shimatani (same as Yuna), Crystal Kay (excellent R&B-pop), Utada Hikarau (all around solid and good for beginners), Angela Aki (excellent ballad pop), Okuda Miwako (amazing ballad & soft pop), Pizzicato Five (cute shibuya kei), Coco D'or (jazzy pop), Orange Pekoe (solid jazz), doa (pop-rock--think Japanese eagles!), Lyrico (stunning ballad-pop), mink (ballad and soft pop),

Anime j-popers: Sakamoto Maaya, Fiction Junction Yuuka (or all of them are good really), Shimokawa Mikuni, TWO MIX, Yonekura Chihiro

Cute pop to try: Perfume, capsule, bless4, Nomiya Maki (of Pizzicato Five), Folder5, SweetS, BON-BON BLANCO

And given your tastes, stay away from Hello!Project. Sometimes there is a thing as too cute.
