Charts: KAT-TUN goes nine straight

KAT-TUN's 9th single, "ONE DROP," led the charts this week with 281,000 in sales. This gave them their ninth consecutive #1, extending back to their debut single. This is currently the third longest such streak, behind NEWS (10) and KinKi Kids (28).

At #2 was girl band Stereopony, with 31,000 copies of their second single, "Namida no Mukou," which is being used as the theme song of "Mobile Suit Gundam 00." This is their first time in the top ten. Also in the top ten this week were The Gospellers at #5 and Salyu at #10.

Meanwhile, Thelma Aoyama came out on top of the album charts, selling 45,000 copies of "LOVE! ~THELMA LOVESONG COLLECTION~." Although she has had a #1 single before, this is her first #1 album.

Lil'B was not far behind at #2 with their first album, "Ima, Kimi e." AAA, Straightener, and Buono! also made the top ten with their latest albums.

I already expected their new single be in #1 at the oricon charts. I guess any bands of Johnny Entertainment are capable of getting their singles/albums at #1, unless a really good competitor out there releases a single/album on the same day as they did.

No other big bands even dare to release in the same week as the big Johnny's bands. Though I'd like to see like EXILE and NEWS release in the same week, some competition would be good for both groups.

i'm happy for KAT-TUN
but i wonder how much pressure each johnny's group feels when they release CD..
it looks like when johnny's group release a song, it "has" to be the number1 on Oricon music chart :/

hope they'll overcome the pressure !

I love Johnnys bands! But I only like KAT-TUN. I'm not a very big fan of theirs. Their music is okay. It's mostly due to their attractive members like Akanishi Jin that reel in the sales. =P

And love_sky, I also can't wait for Arashi's new single to come out! I love them! <3

After listening to the single some more, I think they should've made D-T-S the A side. It's more like their old stuff, and sounds better.

While I love KAT-TUN, I guess I didn't really like One Drop as much as say, Lips or Don't U Ever Stop. Hmmm..

But I am happy for them.
