The Koda Sisters Together At Last

The J-pop sisters Koda Kumi (26, photo right) and Misono (24, photo left) are teaming up for the first time. They are scheduled to release a joint single, "It's All Love" by chaku-uta download on February 25 and on CD in March and will be appearing on the music show circuit together. Though the younger of the two, it was Misono who first achieved popularity from her debut in 2002 until 2005 as vocalist with the group Day After Tomorrow. One reason for the breakup of the group was said to be Misono's considerable weight gain, and she was then completely eclipsed by the success of her big sister. Kumi, who debuted in 2000 and had limited success in the club music scene, almost overnight became J-pop's biggest seller in 2005 and again in 2006 with her upbeat dance numbers, regular TV appearances and "ero-kakkoii" (sexy cool) image. Misono started getting her career back on track in 2006, but more on the TV variety circuit than in music and she is now a regular on such shows as "Quiz! Hexagon." Both sisters...

I like the music from Koda Kumi but not misono, maybe cuz she is not famous as her sister. Well, it might be a good song of family team-up ^^ as long as there's Kumi

wow this is good news ^^
its not so common to see siblings collaborating in the industry so its definitely nice to see ^^

its kinda hard to imagine how they'll sound like in a duet though, since their voices are so different :P

    they're both quite skinny now...
this should be interesting since they both have such different styles... although, admittedly, I can't stand misono's voice. I think the good singing genes went to Kuu-chan.

Wow, this really did come as a shock to me who had listen to koda kumi so much but never knew that she has a sister which is in the entertainment line as well. Wonder what really would come out of those 2 sisters now. But disbanding coz of misono's weight gain? Sounds so cruel.

Maybe it was due to weight gain, and also because there music wasn't selling well. Day after Tomorrow was created by Mitsuru Igarashi who was the creative guy in Every Little Thing and they were never anything more than a ELT ripoff band. BTW, I have always liked misono more than Kumi and I hope this sells well, since I really liked misono's last CD.

I'm surprised it took this long for them to release together. For some reason, I don't have high hopes for this release. Perhaps it's because I have been sort of underwhelmed with Koda's latest stuff. I've not heard any of misono's solo work. Just some of her Day After Tomorrow stuff. I'll give it a listen before I pass final judgment though.

hahaha wow, this is exciting. their voices are quite different but still in one same color, i think. I was wondering earlier, "why don't they just release a duo track, since misono's quite popular now?" and then this news showed up. haha wat a coincidence

anyway, I watched them in a reality show (forgot the name, it was on youtube), they paired up kumi and misono for a day, and it's quite cute. Kumi was being a good sister. lol.. Anyone watched it as well?

hopefully, the single will be a great one. It was worth the wait for something that both sisters are releasing. I made a guess that it will happen when they appeared together on HEY!HEY!HEY! back in december.
