What is the obi strip all about on Japanese CD's? I have seen Ebay sellers make a big deal out of having/not having the obi strip when they sell used CD's.

It shows that it's an original CD and not pirated ones.
Some collectors might be very specific and wouldn't want their CD without the obi strip.

Do Japanese fans store their CD's with the obi strip visible?
I have gotten a few used CD's with saran-wrap like covers on them, which would hold the obi on the end of the CD if someone wanted to do that. The CD could then be placed on a shelf, etc. with the obi visible, making it easy to see what the CD collection is.

I think Obi's for Japanese people who don't understand well in English because it's easier to read. Artist name and Song's Title will appear in Japanese. And sometimes Obi will tell buyer about special gift or limited edition or some bonus tracks for Japan only. By the way i love Obi becuase it's beautiful![]()

I think it also shows you have taken care of the CD if you've managed not too trash the obi...I just throw them away......it's all about the music man!
