Just curious - does anyone know where in the U.S. the releases are popular? I live in the middle part of the country, and I never see their CD's in the music stores.
California? Hawaii?

It really depends on how wide the circulation of the label is. I'm not sure about SM Entertainment USA's penetration -- but Eat You Up was a pretty high charter on the USA Dance 100 so I would imagine the album will definitely show up soon in stores.
That being said, It was only released yesterday/today depending on your time zone, and debut albums are notorious for being difficult to come by at small retailers.

you can buy it from Amazon.com or YesAsia.com

This will sound weird, but try a book store like Borders or Barnes & Noble. Both have ordering systems that you can get stuff through. If it is an actual US release, more often than not, you can get it. If you have any Hot Topics around, they carry alot of other Japanese releases in America(MUCC, D'espairsRay, FACT, Hangry & Angry, Dir en grey, etc.).

I remember when Utada's first USA album released and I went to like 5 stores looking for it, and came up empty handed. many places like the bookstores only carry one copy, and places like best buy are hit or miss. I ended up having to order it through Borders I believe.
I hope you didnt look at a best buy in baltimore md..... i ended up buying 14 copies of exodus there... LOL
as for the Crystal Kay release... that was YEARS ago and i have yet to actually find a cd copy in any store, not even 2nd hand copies.
Dreams Come True also released an american album years ago, i found it at a good will but it had water damage on the booklet so i'd have to look up the release date.
currently, these are the japanese artists that i know have released in the US that i have found or know of (all found ones were found on the east coast around Maryland and Delaware)
Mai Kuraki-never found
Utada-best buy
BoA-Best buy
Puffy Ami-Yumi-Best Buy
Crystal Kay-never found
Dreams Come True-Goodwill
Towa Tei-Goodwill
Akina Nakamori-Goodwill
and if i recall correctly, part of The Brilliant Green branched off and made an american album, i dont remember the details.
From what i understand, japanese artists are quite popular in Hawaii, but you can find a few of the releases here on the east coast too.
You may also find some in mom and pop's music stores in areas with a high foreign population, i currently live in a college town and Rainbow Records carries some chinese artists.
hopefully this helped a bit

I would be just check an employee if they will have in the store. From actually working in one of the electronics stores, I can say that, during the release of the BoA Cd, I personally saw only 2 copies of the CD. Not sure about the Utada album, I would think it would given the same treatment un less it will be an overnight success.

I actually went into HMV (Canada) to ask if they were going to have any copy of BoA's new album, and surprisingly, they said they'll have 1 on April 7th since that's the release date of her album over here. I found it surprising because where I live, not too many people listen to asian music, let alone recognize BoA or her music. But I'm glad they will have it, so I don't have to purchase online.Haven't seen anything for Utada yet though.

I know FYE carried Utada's last album, and that they put BoA's new album on their site.
Unless you're talking about non-english releases. Then I go to Asian stores like Kinokuniya. But those kinds of stores are usually on the east/west coasts i'd imagine. :/ :/ :/ Suncoast used to sell come cds before they closed. ~_~ I'd say you're best best is ordering them online.
