well they still have their other 400 plus stores in china![]()

culture my arse...they clearly want more money. Critics? what critics? They want to kick starbucks out because its a disgrace to their culture...ok....did they CRITICIZE that starbucks should drop their name for that store so it works under the authority of the palace? NO. Then CLEARLY they want more money because the bloody government has too little money to spend on maintaining their tourist attractions but rather using the money for military power lol. WHAT are they criticizing? the brand? or the coffee? it seems like THEY WANT the coffee shop because it generates enough money to keep their place going and it will generate EVEN MORE if they were able to force starbucks to give up the ownership
Not really about money, more about culture and keeping the place chinese. I mean ever from the start, people have protested against Starbucks ever opening there. The money is good and you do have a good point, but if you've ever been there then you'll notice that everything in the imperial palace is Imperial Palace. No fast food joints or any of those other corporations flooding the place with eyesore advertisements.
To me this story is more about preserving the culture of chinese tradition and less about money.

maybe the authorities already had enough money from the 7 years of Starbucks run there...
so they just kicked it out after they reach the goal...
who knows... =_=;
-time heals all wounds-
-time wounds all heels-

They should serve Chinese tea instead of coffee! hahahaha... That should compensate the culture factor.

Starbucks has coffee and muffins.. in the future Starbucks are gonna sell clothings and be a brand for everything..

The money is not a factor to China anymore. China is consider big investor in current economic market. So sacrifice 1 starbuck is no big problem for them.

This is the imperial palace we are talking about here. Any mundane and average-joe commercial outlets are simply wrong to be there. Actually, no store should ever be allowed to open inside. They are generally outside. That's a historic and the most lavish place in the city, how can anyone stand the sight of a modern store?
