Heyas! I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for female rock groups? I've been rummaging around and I can't seem to find any that I like, or the ones that I do like don't seem to have many songs/albumns out =(.
Thanks!

As in female vocalist or full female band? If it's the first, I totally recommend UNLIMITS. They have a great sound, with a great contrast between the female vocalist and the music. So far they have released some mini albums and a full album, but start out with the full album, which is called Mugen Syndrome.
Thanks for the recommendation, I had a listen to one of their songs, and they sound great. To be honest, it doesn't really matter if only the singer is female or if the entire band is female. I was listening to the ED of K-On, and I was just wondering if that would constitute as rock or would it be closer to pop?
I have a really bad distinction between the genre of music - but if you know something that is similar in style, that would be very helpful!
yo can try gogo7188 or chatmonchy there pretty good

Rock band?? You can try Stereopony!!
They've two singles so far.
Namida no Mukou - which is the gundam 00 season 2 opening.
Hitohira no Hanabira - which is one of the bleach opening previously.
i think they're pretty cool rock band and "Namida no Mukou" PV is wonderful. you can check it out at youtube.

Personally, I would say take a look at:
the Brilliant Green
HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR
if you like the Brilliant Green, then take a look at the singer's solo project ''Tommy heavenly6'' she also has Tommy february6 but thats more pop based, where as heavenly6 is alot more rock.
Its very good![]()

it will be necessary to check ska bands if you are finding girls band.
yum! yum! orange, ore ska band, go! go! 7188 ...
and there is a metal band named aphasia.
Ikimonogakari is also a rock band the vocals singing a gurl, but they do more punk then rock but yu should try them out, for my personal opinion they are relly good.
I had never even heard of UNLIMITS, but after a quick Youtube search, that was awesome. Thanks! Is it just that they've very new, or something? They have a sound I'd imagine would be quite popular.

Mean Machine. Chara and Yuki (Judy and Mary) are both drummers. Every girl in this five member group are vocalists. Sadly they only came out with one album, "Cream," in 2001. It was just one of those one time things.![]()

you could try Tokyo Jihen, even though it's not an entire girl's band the singer, Shiina Ringo, is really good and they make really great music.
As for another band, Stereopony is good, and that's about it. Now that I think of it, I don't know many girl bands.
that's what i listen, how bout you?

why dont you try chatmonchy..? the music is nice and voice is cute...and not the mention the girls is cute..
try pick "shangrila" as 1st start..
UNLIMITS have been around for years now, but they're just one of the many lesser known indie bands out there. In fact, they only started to gain overseas, online fans last year...mostly due to my efforts...but that's another story. =)
To address the topic of the thread, If you're looking for female fronted Japanese rock bands, I have a group on last.fm dedicated to them. Just check out the artist connections and you may find something you like.

kishida kyoudan has some great stuff and their discog is here on nigihana

Considering that someone mentioned the brilliant green (whom I think are generally considered leaning more on the "pop" side than rock), I guess it's fair to say that Lines can fall on this category as well.
Speaking of Lines, I don't know lick about them. I just mentioned them cuz I randomly checked them out (many thanks to the uploaders here) and quite liked their mini-album INDEX. Anybody here can shed more info about the group?
