Hm.. China's first to make solar powered cell phones? I want one! But I dont think you want one if you always keep your phone indoors..

Nice development but I wouldn't think that this will actually have any significant effect on anything. It's simple enough to charge your mobile phone and it doesn't consume that much energy.
Liza: The solar panels on this cell phone is capable of charging even with a candle as a light source. So even if your indoors, you can still charge the cell phone. To be honest, this development will be benefit people 'on the go' as in contractors, sales people and others who require a cell phone 24/7.
Zephyranthes: Well if you think small scale this new development wont be significant but when you think about the millions of people around the world who use cell phones and multiply that number with the amount of electricity taken from the grid to recharge their cell phones per year...... then that will be a significant change.
Businesses and consumer groups are all hyped up on this "think green" mentality of late and I beleive this will be a hit in the near future.
Heh i thought japanese who always make new innovations here.
It is a turn for the better. I hope it will become standard in China, seeing as its population is pretty big, and it would be a disaster if everyone were using normal batterychargers.

Wow... seems like a really amazing idea. I wonder how people actually have them now in China.

I usually put my cell phone in my pocket,
I don't think that it's practical for me to have this gadget.

hmm, i'm looking forward to this new invention..
i really want a cellular phone that don't use batteries, because batteries (Li-Ion) nowadays are not so reliable, they can lose power after 2 or 3 years of usage.. so why don't we try this alternative clean energy source?
-time heals all wounds-
-time wounds all heels-

somehow i got reminded of the solar powered light,,,,,

wow!interesting..i never thought that this kind of phone will be created. perhaps that i can hv it one. ^^
Well this cell phone still uses rechargable batteries as a power source. The solar panels are used to charge the batteries whenever there is sufficient light source for the job. To be honest most rechargeable batteries nowadays come with a recharge memory so you can charge it whenever you want without having to worry about damaging the life of the battery(that is the branded ones, not the generic batteries) but inevitably all batteries have a 2-5year lifetime as do all electronic gadgets/devices.

Solar power to charge hp, that so cool can save on electricity

cool... i would like one... although it may not help me much.. ahhaa... but i'll still like one!
