Angela Tong Is Slapped By Attacker In A Wanchai Street

TVB artiste Angela Tong (湯盈盈) was attacked earlier today by a man in Wanchai's Spring Garden Lane area. As she passed by a shop at around noon, the man suddenly appeared and slapped her in the face. He then ran away and was chased by Angela's male assistants, who were with her at the time.

Angela and one of her assistants were injured in the incident and were taken to hospital for treatment.

At around 8pm this evening, Angela arrived at TVB City to continue filming for her series Housewife Stock God <師奶股神> and was met by reporters eager to find out more about the incident. She seemed very shaken and afraid as she recalled how suddenly it had happened and said that she had felt very faint and was suffering from headaches. She added that she did not know her assailant and did not know why he attacked her.

Angela said that she had just finished filming with Kiki Sheung (商天娥) and had been for some lunch with her. As she had some other work, she did not leave with the group and stayed in the area. She remembered that someone tapped her on the shoulder and then hit her in the face. As her assistants pursued her attacker, Angela said that she remembered some passers-by commenting that her ear was red from the impact, but she was too confused and could only feel herself quaking and crying.

As she still has work to complete, Angela said that she does not have time to rest, but when asked how she was feeling, she became quite emotional and said that she was still quite unstable. She said that she does not have any enemies, does not owe any money and does not know that she has upset anyone. Moreover she is not even dating anyone, so she does not understand why this happened.

Angela made a plea to the press to help look out for her because she feels very lonely and frightened on her own in Hong Kong. When asked about her physical condition, she said that the doctors have given her the all-clear and thanked everyone for their concern.

A 34 year old man has been arrested by the police and is being questioned about the incident overnight.

maybe the guy was chasing a bee or fly around the streets and happened to swat at the fly/bee as he turned a corner and ended up slapping angela in the face by accident and instead of explaining himself he panicked and did a runner.........

The rest of the story is that her assistant caught up to the guy and there were police close by and saw the comotion and arrested the guy. The guy wasn't all there; you know the 'crazy' type, when asked why he did it he said it he didn't, someone paid him like 2000 hk to slap her. Sadly there are enough crazies around HK that u can do some dirty work for you for cheap.

It is a shaky incident. Mentally, yes. But hell, is this big news? People get slapped more often than not. Also, people get run by a car, get killed, die from starvation, illness... There are things to worry more about among things which happen daily, aren't there? I'm saying just because the one who got injured or whatever is one of the celebrity people, the media tend to exaggerate more.

To be honest those idiots in hk are weak, most of those guys are pansies so I doubt the slap hurt, angela is just playing the "OMG I'm so feminine that floating feathers can knock me out" card.

It's rather sad that you guys are even excusing such violent behavior no matter how 'harmless' you assume it would be. That is the problem with most people and so happens with a lot of asian people (I am asian myself); I see that they do not like to get involved and like stand around as on lookers and gawk and be accusatory to the victim that they probably deserved it; instead of going and trying to help; its rather spineless. You can see inccidents where people are in an accident and dying and all they can do is crowd around or back away instead of say calling medical services for help asap. That is the attitude you guys are portraying, so instead of helping I wouldn't be surprised you would have added insult to injury. Violence in our society continues to propagate only because people are uneducated and as well victims themselves in the past so they only pass it on; through hate and violence onto others.

Another thing that is sad that people make it out that people who are in the media (mostly actors then singers) are there for your amusement beyond their job; they are just regular humans too with flaws and all of that. But yet it seems that anything that happens to them is lesser or greater depending on the situation; like they can endure anything and are inhuman. People think they should have unlimited access to their lives and that is how the poparazzi act no less the people who read gossip mags and don't have a brain and believe every story that comes up in the tabloid; society is the blame for the lack of freedom of thought and the ever minded control into conformity; pretty much what you know and what you believe is a result of being spoon fed daily since childhood; you are a 'product' of society. It is sad that people get so taken in about others people's lives and judge, that they should focus on their own; yet perhaps the problem is their lives are horrorible and they look on in envy on a 'star's life to see how rosey life can be; sadly the grass isn;'t greener on the other side. Being hounded incesently by people earning money via selling photos to crazy obcessed fans; they just want to live life too doing 'normal' activities without being interrupted; they need time for themselves too and should have that privacy when they are not on the 'job' which almost seems like anywhere in the public eye or where the public eye can extend to.

I know people will try to go down the route where they say when they got into the industry they should have knew what they were getting into; but that is a bunch of crock. As much as the spotlight is addictive it can be a horror, especially when it is overwhelming like a tsunami crushing you in its wake. From being 'normal' to having people chase you whereever you go and getting hounded while every move you make is being judged and critized over that any 'other' person out there normally does is blown up to be unthinkable. Judge them on their morales, their actions, the way they dress, they way they look, but in the end they are imperfect ~ but supposedly made less so by the envy of others.

Sorry if I don't agree with the too bad so sad, who cares bit. The lack of values in todays society is just disgusting.

1. No-one is cheering for this incident, we are just down playing it since these sort of things happen everyday and the only time it is reported on is when it happens to celebrities.

2. Not everyone can be heroes and also by intervening on acts of violence in public you may cause further harm to not only the victim at hand but also yourself and whoever else is around you.

3. Celebrities are celebrities, they chose their career path and just like any other career path there are pros and cons. For celebrities they have paparazzi's, its part of the job, I mean celebrities are paid to be in the public eye and if they dont like it they can always quit and choose another career path behind the scenes or in an office.... its that simple. I mean seriously celebrities spend their whole working lives in front of cameras and when its their time off its not that hard to stay away from peepers since theres things called bodyguards, decoy cars and etc, they have the funds for this anyway.

4. "Spoonfed by the media," well arent you one aswell??? I mean you said it before that in hk you can hire people do those sort of things, how do you know Angela didnt hire someone or maybe one of her assistance in order to vamp her celebrity status???

Finally, in the end you cant really beleive the press since they tend to over exaggerate moments and edit out the important facts because in the end the press is only here to sell stories!
