I'd try, well depends on if you consider this ska or not. Try Long Shot Party or Ore Ska Band. Those are really the only two I know.

you could try the roosters. they're from the 80s, so if you're looking for an older ska sound, i bet you'd like at least some of their stuff. we have their tribute album available in ddl section

Thanks torukien! The Roosters are freakin awsome! I'd love you to pieces if you could hook me up with some original albums.
And I'll try to look for Long Shot Party or Ore Ska Band, but so far I havent had much luck. Last edited by Gleb; 01-27-2008 at 04:39 AM. |

There's also Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and Kemuri.
I've added a few links for Kemuri in the discography thread which you can find Code:

Thanks for The Rooster albums, i was meaning to dl them but the uki bot seems to be dead.. ;_; You too Calltometal ^^ nice band.
Off Topic: Definition of ska is still confusing to me, to me it's late 60's-80's rock'n'roll, punk and blues that i truly know well :P. For some good bands of the 80's in Japan, check out Hare-brained unity, THE MODS, blood thirsty butchers and guitar wolf. Good stuff. Then again.. they are more in the oldschool rock'n'roll/indie rock/garage punk genre.. but still check them out if you can find them. I think that Thee michelle gun elephant sounds similar to The roosters .. You can dl these bands via irc at japan-music, but uki bot is dead.. so if you're interested pm me for any of the bands i listed, i think i have an album of each except for guitar wolf. < help me if you have any of their albums/singles. Back to the topic: SHAKALABBITS is a good ska band. Use the search button, there was someone who uploaded a single in the forum. And check out besanii's Code:
Links are only visible if you register this site and become a member. Some Ska bands I've heard of 175R, Beat Crusaders, Asakusa Jinta, The Boom, Cool wise men, Doberman, Fake?, Hi-Ho/Good Bye, Inoran, Kemuri , Kojima, Ken Lloyd, Lisa, Mad Capsule Markets, MONGOL800, Pop Chocolate, The Rude Pressures, Scafull King, Skatroits, Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re, The Roosters, Shaka Labbits, Tak Matsumoto, >Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra< really good, potshot, Tigerfeet, Tropical Gorilla, Young Punch, Yum!Yum!ORANGE, Yukihiro Takahashi and Ore Ska Band. Quite a lot neh? There is more... Anyways i hope i've helped you a bit, though i don't have any useful links to give you, i've given you a list of ska bands to search for XD, a good place to start is maybe myspace.. i don't really like myspace but it's a good place to search for music. Have fun. Last edited by DeadlyNightshade; 03-01-2008 at 11:01 PM. |

wrong, ska is punk, pop/punk with instruments infused, for e.x trumpet, sax, trombone.
