    hm, i recommend the below artistes;

    ROCK/POP;

    Plastic tree (if u're feeling sad, moody; they're the one to go for. This is cuz Ryutaro's voice always has a melancholic tone to it; and the instrumentals behind adds to the mood)

    VK/OK Rock;

    Rentrer en soi, The GazettE, Dir en Grey, Viored, Versailles. Versailles is a new band focusing on the aristocratic feel, and their songs pretty much convey it thru the kick@ss instrumentals and kamijyo's high mighty vocals.

    Trance/Eurobeat;

    M.O.V.E.---> Juz who doesn't know this band which produces most of the songs of initial D?
    FLeet-->pretty new band with 1 single and 1 album. Juz listen to "brand new reason" and u're hooked. they've went into hiatus mode recently; which is sad...

    my recommendation:
    Pop: YUI
    Ballad: Stephanie, Yuna Ito
    Rap(I think so): Funky Monkey Babys/Babies

    I love the band Funky Monkey Babys/Babies (I'm not sure about it) but somehow it's so hard to find their albums.
    It's like not many people knew bout their existence although they did appeared on music station for a few times already.
    I hope someday they will be recognised worldwide..I just LOVE their music so funky n touching at the same time..^^

    I'm looking for some recommendations. hopefully someone has good suggestions.
    I'm looking for japanese pop punk/punk rock bands. the sound should be similar to Nicotine if possible. or 175R (aka Inago Rider). or to some american bands (Blink-182 - the older stuff, Sum 41 - the older stuff, Lagwagon, Allister etc)

    @Epikk
    I don't know Nicotine or 175R but this bands sounds like american punk bands.
    - Hi-Standard (They no more active but the CDs are great, you may know them if you know Lagwagon)
    - Ken Yokoyama (Former member of Hi-Standard)
    - Choke Sleeper

    You can also look at the hompage of Pizza Of Death Records, that is the label of Ken Yokoyama, maybe you find other bands you like. The best is you look on youtube or myspace if you want to know whether you like them.
    Normally it's easy to find bands, if you know one. Look if they have a myspace site and search their friendlist.

    I'm looking for anything, but really anything from any countertenor. I'd like to have some names solo career or if they are involved into bands just enough informations that will give me some good results on google or something

    Also any good soprano like singers are OK as well. something like Kanon (alan is acceptable as well, not all her songs though) but absolutely not limited to that at all.

    Also both requests are not limited to Japanese artist.

    Thank you

    Chibi

    If you guys love X-Japan (like I do), you owe it to yourself to check out Versailles.

    I think the best way to describe Versailles is as follows:

    X-Japan + Malice Mizer = Versailles.

    They're heavy on the Symphonic Rock, but it's more orchestral rather than the organ used with Malice Mizer.

    Bottom Line...just check them out. Their new album is actually on the US iTunes Music Store.

    I second Deanox opinion
    If you're into some Electric Pop, you should check out Yasutaka Nakata's work including the trio Perfume (which is the best IMO), also MEG, Ami Suzuki, COLTEMONIKHA, oh yeah Immi too

    Yasutaka Nakata also has his own called Capsule
