From what i've seen, it's dragonball in name only, the plot has nothing to do with the actual series besides character names, and piccolo.. heh.

it'll probably be pretty bad....that's usually how it goes when an asian phenomenon is used in an american movie. or sometimes it's not even a phenomenon (remember tokyo drift, anyone?)

at least they didn't try to get the hair. that would have been a true disaster. even with CG.

but i'll give it a chance. why not.

the story is bullshit! The actors are lame. The CG r good but nothing new.

This movie dind't respect the anime/manga story, goku going to the university (OMFG!), he is just a dumb monkey-boy in the jungle who cant read and now he is in college.

They do Kame hame Ha but it looks like a little Hadou-ken.

Just to resume, is the shitiest shitty shit of all movies... pathetic

totally agree with you deka, Dragonball Evolution is bullcrap. just watched today and seriously, there wasn't even 1 moment in the movie where I thought "wow, amazing".
seriously, I expected it to be bad but after actually watching it bad is just a compliment. it's total crap.

none of the characters resemble the actual Dragonball characters. especially Goku. like you said about him going to college or high school or whatever. wtf is up with that? I never even saw him hold a book in his hands in the DB anime and now he's a student?
his appearance isn't Goku-like, his thinking, actions, nothing... he resembles Goku in absolutely no point!
and Master Roshi. he's supposed to be over 300 and in the anime he at least looks pretty old. in this movie he's like 45 the most. they didn't even try to make him look older.
and the other characters... like Chi-Chi going to college too? and the same class as Goku? wtf...
and what about Bulma. her hair isn't even blue! come on. they could at least dye her hair blue.
well but then again... at least they painted Piccolo green.

the story is total crap too. not connected to Dragonball at all. Master Roshi living in the city? come on!
Goku is 18 years old and he doesn't even know kamehameha until the end of the movie.and he's just a freakin alien?

and there is almost no action at all. the battles are like 30 seconds long the rest of the time the characters are just babblin pointless stuff.


if you ask me this movie is a disgrace towards Dragonball. they took maybe 5% of Dragonball and changed the rest to their liking.
seriously, I usually don't have that much bad stuff to say about a movie but this one... this movie is just total crap from every point of view. well except the effects. the effects are about the only good thing in the movie. but you see good special effect only 3 or 4 times in the whole movie.


I don't recommend anyone watching this. especially if you're a real Dragonball fan. and if I'd have to rate it I'd give it a 2/10.

Just rented this from Netflix, to see how bad it was. Bad idea, I want my time back! Even as a person who watched DBZ very little on CN while growing up, it was absolutely horribe. It seems the movie industry has no talent in bringing animation into a 'live' format, or video games for that matter.

It is a bad idea to begin with... Waste of money and time.. they could've use the money as donation to countries that needed help instead of conning fans into the cinema to watch this dumb movie.. Not worth watching definitely.

Well, I really did not have any good expectations of this movie... after i've had seen the trailler.
At first i was really looking forward on how they were going to make the moves and attacks, or if there would be an super saiyajin and so. But c'mon, a gray piccolo that looks like a mix of a vampire and a gargoyle!?!?!? My expectations went down...
But i`m really hoping/praying that the cowboy beebop film will be better xD

I wouldn't say it's not worth watching - just not worth paying too watch it. I think this film is in the category "so crappy that one must see it", like "Independence Day" for instance.
I saw live-action Dragonball flick made in Taiwan - it was total crap, but I watched it few times already and it always was (disturbingly) enjoyable experience. Although I think this American version is not crappy enough, it is just bad, not "enjoyable bad" .
